Project Experience
Research & Development project environment
· Managed the eight-month, $27 million design/build effort to retrofit an inventory facility into final assembly building for the Atlas, Atlas/Titan Centaur Space Access Vehicles. Maintained existing office air conditioning capabilities while relocating the mechanical room, managing the installation of required high purity gas piping system, upgrade of lighting and heating/cooling capabilities, and relocated final assembly equipment. Converted 150,000 SF of warehouse space into a world-class manufacturing facility. Added 40,000 SF of Class 100K clean room space and 14,000 SF of office support area.
· Managed the Titan Rocket consolidation, remodeling approximately 250,000 square feet of office space in a six-month period. Coordinated data systems, telecommunications, facilities engineering, and space planning personnel for final layout.
· Facilities Manager for an R&D center in Rancho Bernardo, California. Coordinated tenant requirements with engineering and in-house facility representatives and general contractor. Worked with communication personnel in establishing budgets for facility. Initiated the Life Safety program including compliance documentation as well as the emergency procedure system for the company in case of disaster.
· Managed the time and material contracts (T&M) for the Asbestos and Lead Abatement contractors, as well as the T&M contract for air monitoring. Chosen for the original plant operations Hazardous Material Emergency Response Team. SCBA and Hazardous Material Handling certifications acquired.
· Supervised and mentored project construction manager on the construction of 75,000 SF R&D facility complete with Radio Frequency shielding and secured development areas.
· Managed contractors working on 55,000 sf, two-story, conversion of facility to R&D center in Rancho Bernardo, California, which included SCIF and Tempest, classified work areas.
· Managed construction of a single-story Electronic Manufacturing Facility with approximately 60,000 SF of usable manufacturing space. Construction completed in nine months at a cost of $3.8 million.
